From Dr James French:

Paper:

Smith-Bindman et al.  Ultrasonography versus Computed Tomography for suspected nephrolithiasis. N Engl J Med 2014;371:1100-10.

Link:

Here –  It can be downloaded in full via the Dalhousie Library. As all physicians are Dal Faculty I have put the paper in the Physicians File Store on the website too,

I’m going to change the format a bit to encourage discussion and make it more relevant to our hospital and our patients. I’m going to divide the session into three sections:

  1. Eat some great nibbles. Have at least two glasses of wine.
  2. What is our current system? Natasha is going to talk about her new Renal Colic Policy and where the areas of controversy is…….(30 mins)
  3. The review of the paper. Is what this paper states is true? Does it matter? Does it help us?  (40 mins)
  4. What changes should we propose based on the new evidence and discussion….  (30 mins)
  5. Relax, have a drink, stop talking about work, and chill out.

I’ve invited a Urologist and a Radiologist who are both approachable and keen to contribute to helpful discussions.
