Paper:
Smith-Bindman et al. Ultrasonography versus Computed Tomography for suspected nephrolithiasis. N Engl J Med 2014;371:1100-10.

Here – It can be downloaded in full via the Dalhousie Library. As all physicians are Dal Faculty I have put the paper in the Physicians File Store on the website too,
I’m going to change the format a bit to encourage discussion and make it more relevant to our hospital and our patients. I’m going to divide the session into three sections:
- Eat some great nibbles. Have at least two glasses of wine.
- What is our current system? Natasha is going to talk about her new Renal Colic Policy and where the areas of controversy is…….(30 mins)
- The review of the paper. Is what this paper states is true? Does it matter? Does it help us? (40 mins)
- What changes should we propose based on the new evidence and discussion…. (30 mins)
- Relax, have a drink, stop talking about work, and chill out.
I’ve invited a Urologist and a Radiologist who are both approachable and keen to contribute to helpful discussions.
