Who should attend?
The ECCU2 Advanced Applications Course is aimed at clinicians with some experience in the core PoCUS applications (Basic Cardiac, Aorta, Trauma-FAST, Obstetric). Preferably, they will have attended a basic level PoCUS introductory course e.g ECCU1, EDTU, EGLS, EDE1 or equivalent (residency training, fellowship etc).
What is the ECCU2 Advanced Applications Course?
The ECCU2 Advanced Applications Course is an advanced PoCUS course. It covers all the requirements for IP2 and beyond.
The Resuscitation module includes advanced cardiac (4 views, form and function, etc), lung (pneumothorax, pleural fluid and interstitial fluid, etc), ivc ( shock, etc).
The Diagnostic module includes biliary, renal, DVT and ocular.
The MSK/Needle guidance module includes PocUS assessment of upper and lower limb (joints and soft tissues), fracture/dislocation assessment and ultrasound guided vascular access / nerve blocks.
Workshops will include access to model patients, a wide range of PoCUS phantoms and the state-of-the art CAE Vimedix Ultrasound Simulator.
The course will be limited to 24 delegates.
Is the course recognized?
The ECCU2 Advanced Applications Course meets all the requirements for the Canadian Point of Care Ultrasound Society (CPoCUS) for theCPoCUS Advanced Apps Program. TheCPoCUS Advanced Apps (IP2) Program has been developed to give clinicians an opportunity to expand their PoCUS skills beyond Independent Practitioner (IP). With the imminent release ofCPoCUS IP2/Advanced Apps, having completed the ECCU2 Advanced Applications Course, delegates will be able to register withCPoCUS as an IP2 apprentice in any of the IP2 streams ( Resuscitation, Diagnostic, Needle Guidance, Musculoskeletal).
